Science and Stories

I’m Kiona, and I’m a freelance science and technology journalist, as well as a writer of science fiction, fantasy, and horror stories.

I’ve been a contributing editor at NFC Times since late 2012, and my work has appeared online and in print at the Washington Post, on Gizmodo and in the online editions of Air & Space, Discover, and Popular Mechanics.

My short zombie story, “If All Else Perished,” appeared in the October 2012 charity anthology FEAR from UK-based Crooked Cat Books, and I’m in the process of revising my first novel, an urban fantasy story.

When I’m not writing or researching, I’m usually reading, knitting, playing RPGs, or exploring old cemeteries.  Currently, I live in Manhattan, Kansas, where I share an office with a massive hoard of books and an awesome Border Collie named Duke.
